Digital Archives

Digitised collections, recordings, and born-digital materials that widen access while creating new gaps.

Digitisation lets students consult playbills, prompt books, and recordings remotely. But what gets digitised reflects funding and institutional priorities, file formats become obsolete, and much born-digital performance — streams, social media videos — is controlled by private platforms and can disappear.

Community-led digital projects have tried to put descriptive control in the hands of the people documented.
